My life story sort of.
Currently I am still developing my ceramics skills. I have taken ceramics for two years at Montgomery College. This fun course is taught by Robby Wood, Lotus Witt and Jenny. I still enjoy photography, watercolor painting and I occaionally update the clay club blog
Spring 2006 - Looking for a way out of the house, I took Drawing I at Montgomery College with Denise Lorenz. we used charcoal, graphite, pastels, and brush n ink.
In fall 2004 I discovered a love for watercolor painting during an art class at Montgomery College taught by Cynthia Reid.
I went mad btwn 2002 and 2004. We remodelled our house because of mold and other issues (cracked tubs leaking showers). We had to completely strip-off the EIFS and reclad our house in conventional stucco. and we re-did all the upstairs baths. while still living in the house. (i am still grumpy about it) all nice now, thanks.
From March 2001-Jan 2002 I worked as a web programmer at D Hilton Associates, Inc., a privately owned company.what i did at DHA
Prior to D Hilton, in 2000 I worked for HomeWrite. I wrote parts of the HomeWrite.com Home Owner's Manual website including a contact list management pages and image upload pages. HomeWrite was aquired by Homestore. ...And the homeowner manuals are not around any more as far as I can tell. I taught myself ASP.
Prior to HomeWrite, I worked for VosGo Systems. I worked on custom projects in Visual Basic including systems for museum management, office site management, database synchronization, custom label manufacturing, and financial fund management. I taught myself VisualBasic.
Prior to VosGo I worked for Phil Whirley (i hope i spelled that right) doing everything from making a box of stuff into a desk, to making a box of stuff into a computer. I answered phones, supported customers and wrote a tiny bit of code to extend some accounting software.
Prior to that in 1996 I was a substitute teacher for 3-5 year olds at Red Preschool. Yes, some kid threw up on my shoes the first day, making it harder to quit. I learned more about parenting young kids from those preschool teachers Suzanne and Jodi than from anywhere else. and for that I am so thankful. I am a much better mother than I would have been otherwise.
Prior to that I graduated from University of Houston with a BS Mathematics in December 1995. I have about 18 hours of computer science. I have taken that class on compilers with the dragon on the cover of the book. and I liked it.
My Family fits in here somewhere. Husband Kent (married 1987) and three kids: Keesha (b.1988), Langley (b.1990) and Lillian (b. 1993).
I held many jobs btwn High School and the Math degree. Some more memorable than others. All of the experiences, however brief or low-paying, continue, in unexpected ways, to shape who i am today.
Steak n Shake (waitress), Allied Van lines (packer), Chilis (waiter), Kinkos (xerox, graphic layout), Fluor (draftsman), Enserch Exploration (draftsman), UR Cooks (waitr), J Edgars (bartender/beer/hamburger server), Tech Repro (draftsman)...
Graduating from Clear Creek High in League City, TX, I went to U of H the following year 77-78 studied Architecture, passing the first year, an accomplishment to relish. I decided not to continue in the Architecture program because of real time/energy conflicts with athletics. (yes, some days more than others, i -do- regret that decision)
I played collegiate volleyball at University of Houston, lettering four years: 1977,'78,'79 (Ruth Nelson) and '81 (Dave Olbright). More on volleyball at UH.
During high school I lettered four years in volleyball, earning all-state honors in 1976 and playing for the east texas all-stars as a senior in 1977.
From the early 60s to late 70s, I grew up in a south houston-clear lake area enclave of NASA engineers and astronauts. It was a fascinating environment. The sky was clearly not the limit.
