The Fourth Erickson Software Bicycle Tour of The Woodlands

On Friday afternoon June 18, 2003, Erickson Software held a fourth Bicycle Tour, about 24 miles long, which was held in The Woodlands, TX. This tour features the two loops of the 2002 Woodlands midnight bicycle ride, the first around fifteen miles, the second about nine.  The nine mile loop repeats the first half of the longer loop. The midnight ride route changed in 2003 and again in 2004.

Route

Long Loop

  1. Path Starting at Panther Creek Shopping Center, exit east to West Panther Creek and turn left. 
  2. Path Turn right at Woodrush Drive (about 1/4 mile) and  follow it to East Panther Creek, about 1/2 mile.
  3. Path Turn left (north) onto West Panther Creek.  Follow it north, then west, then south to as it changes names to East Panther Creek,about 2 miles to Lake Woodlands Parkway.  
  4. Path  Turn right (west) onto Lake Woodlands for about 1 mile to to Falconwing Drive.  Cross the road, turning left.
  5. Path  Follow Falconwing south to Flintridge, approximately 1/2 mile.  Turn right onto Flintridge.
  6. Path Follow Flintridge about 1/2 mile to Gosling Road and turn right by the John Cooper school.
  7. Path Take Gosling Road north to Research Forest, about 3.5 miles.
  8. Path   Turn right on Research Forest and ride to Shadowbend, about 1.5 miles.
  9. Path Turn right on Shadowbend and follow it to West Panther Creek, about 1.5 miles.
  10. Path Turn right on West Panther Creek and return to Panther Creek Shopping Center.

Short Loop

  1. Path Starting at Panther Creek Shopping Center, exit east to West Panther Creek and turn left. 
  2. Path Turn right at Woodrush Drive (about 1/4 mile) and  follow it to East Panther Creek, about 1/2 mile.
  3. Path Turn left (north) onto West Panther Creek.  Follow it north, then west, then south to as it changes names to East Panther Creek,about 2 miles to Lake Woodlands Parkway.  
  4. Path  Turn right (west) onto Lake Woodlands for about 1 mile to to Falconwing Drive.  Cross the road, turning left.
  5. Path  Follow Falconwing south to Flintridge, approximately 1/2 mile.  Turn right onto Flintridge.
  6. Path Follow Flintridge about 1/2 mile to Gosling Road and turn right by the John Cooper school.
  7. Path Take Gosling Road north to Golden Sage, about 1/2 mile. 
  8. Path Turn right onto the Golden Sage Road path, about 1/4 mile.  Turn right onto Sylvan Forest.
  9. Path Follow the path Sylvan Forest Road along the left side, then across Sylvan Forest and on the right side.  You'll ride for about a mile to Shadowbend.  
  10. Path Turn right on Shadowbend and follow it to West Panther Creek, about one half mile.
  11. Path Turn right on West Panther Creek and return to Panther Creek Shopping Center. 

The route map was assembled from a pastiche of images from Yahoo! Maps and the route drawn in by hand. It's most useful for general guidance - you won't be able to use it to follow the trail, but if you're confused about some segment and you're intimately familiar with the Woodlands it might be useful.
